Chat says a model is needed

No model is connected, or the key was rejected. Open Models and connect one — see Connecting a model.

The agent does not know its name

The name is set during setup and lives in the agent's identity. If it answers that it has not been named, set it in Config under agent name, or simply tell it what it is called.

Dictation types nothing

Check microphone permission, then Config → stt → enabled. The first attempt after a restart is slow because the transcription model loads on demand.

A channel will not connect

Most channel changes need the gateway restarted before they take effect — the page prompts you. If it still fails, use Test on the channel's panel, which reports the specific error.

The status dot is red

That is the agent runtime, not your internet, and it updates in real time. Red usually means the system was shut down from the power menu — open it and press Start. The runtime also restarts itself after updates and repairs its own state, so a brief red during a restart resolves on its own. If it stays red, check Logs.

It is slower than expected

Usually the model. Frontier models are slower but far better at multi-step work; a small local model is quick and gives up early. Long conversations also slow down — /compress or /clear helps.
